At the center of Asthma Warriors is JoJo O’Neal’s journey—transforming her own struggle to breathe into a way to help others breathe easier.
Diagnosed with adult-onset asthma in 2004, JoJo O’Neal came face-to-face with the fear, frustration, and constant trial-and-error of finding treatments that actually worked. The breathless nights were real—and so was the realization that too many people were going through the same thing without clear answers, guidance, or support.
In 2013 she decided to turn her experience into a mission to help others, she founded what would grow into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit built to: connect people to the education, resources, and support they need to manage asthma and live better. What started as her personal journey became Asthma Warriors—a community focused on helping people move from confusion to clarity, and from isolation to support. Through education, outreach, and support groups, the work is practical, real, and centered on what people actually need in their day-to-day lives.
Her advocacy didn’t stop at the community level.
Through her role on the American Lung Association’s Leadership Advisory Board in Florida, JoJo helped bring real patient perspective into the room—contributing to conversations around asthma care, awareness, and access, and helping ensure that lived experience was part of how decisions were shaped.
At the same time, she continued doing what she’s built her career on—connecting with people.
A longtime radio personality with Cox Media Group Orlando since 1994, JoJo is currently heard weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Star 94.5 FM, as well as in Jacksonville on Hot 106.5 and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Tampa on 101.5 the Vibe. For hours each day, she brings energy, consistency, and a sense of community to the airwaves—something her listeners have come to rely on. Her voice extends beyond radio into voiceover work heard in commercials, videos, and digital platforms worldwide.
In 2025, her impact in broadcasting was recognized with her induction into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame.
Outside of the studio, she brings that same discipline into strength training and has competed in fitness competitions—another reflection of her mindset: steady, committed, and always pushing forward.
Her story isn’t about avoiding the struggle.
Being an Asthma Warrior is about showing up, staying informed, and getting stronger with every breath forward.
